Maryanne Dempsey

Maryanne is super excited to join the 5th grade team at Alpine! She was born and raised in California and was fortunate to attend South Dakota State University and Bethany University on softball scholarships. Maryanne then coached softball at the collegiate level. While coaching, Maryanne began to realize that she loved helping her athletes grow and become well-rounded players and human beings. This realization pushed her to become a teacher because she could help students in a similar way-motivating them to improve and grow.

Maryanne began her teaching career as a 5th grade teacher in Lancaster, California, and then moved to Montana to be closer to family. When Maryanne arrived in Montana, she began working with troubled youth as a Mental Health Worker.  She spent a couple years in that position and then took a job with the State of Montana working in Children and Family Services.

Last summer Maryanne moved to Colorado, married her husband Matt, and completed her student teaching at Thunder Valley K8. After completing her student teaching, Maryanne earned a Master in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction and has been working as a substitute in long-term positions in 1st grade and Special Education.

Maryanne and Matt enjoy their two dogs, Brody and Hopper, and they love to get out on the river to fly fish whenever possible.

Maryanne is ready to embark upon the year ahead and can’t wait to meet all of her students and their families!
