CO READ Act Parent Surveys

Hello,

We would like to hear from parents about your child’s experience with the Colorado READ Act and its observed impact.

As you may know, the Colorado READ (Reading to Ensure Academic Development) Act provides funding and a framework for improving literacy outcomes for kindergartners through third graders, particularly those with “Significant Reading Deficiencies” (SRDs) who are at risk to not read at grade level by third grade. The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) has been working with WestEd and its partners to conduct a legislatively mandated evaluation of the READ Act since March 2020.

The survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete, and all responses will be kept confidential.

  • We are only asking you to complete the survey if your child has ever been identified as having a significant reading deficiency (SRD) and/or has ever been given a READ plan.

Thank you in advance for your participation in this parent survey. We greatly appreciate your time and willingness to share your experience.

Please click on the link below to participate in the survey: https://westedk12enterprise.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6Vg7ME5659uoRLg

VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION

Alpine will be having a Veteran’s Day Celebration on Tuesday, November 11th.

Please email your child’s teacher if interested so we know who to expect, and include their name, rank, and branch of service. Veterans can be parents, family members, neighbors, or other community members you’d like to invite. We look forward to another wonderful event to show our appreciation for our Veterans.

Schedule

9:00 Veterans arrive to the library for instructions about our ceremony

9:20 Ceremony begins in the gymnasium

9:50 End of assembly

10:00 Veterans visit with classrooms to briefly share a story or two and answer a few questions

10:30 Veterans return to the library for a light breakfast and coffee reception.

The school will be creating our “Wall of Honor” for Veterans again throughout the next following weeks. Students or families can fill out a brick and return to the office or to Mrs. Bonner by November 7th. Please feel free to fill out more than one. Click here for a copy. If you filled one out in the past years, we still have it and will reuse it.

Free and Reduced Meals

Families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced-price meals are encouraged to complete an application by Oct. 1. While all St. Vrain Valley students receive one free breakfast and one free lunch daily through Colorado’s Healthy School Meals for All program, submitting an application provides additional benefits to families such as fee waivers, college exam discounts, and reduced internet and utility costs, and also helps bring federal funding to support classrooms, after-school programs, technology, and additional meals and snacks for students. Applications are available online or at Nutrition Services, 2929 Clover Basin Dr., Longmont.

Colorado FriendShip Needs Our Help!

Colorado FriendShip is an amazing mobile food and clothing organization that supplies weekend meals for over 650 St. Vrain Valley students through their IncrEdibles Food Program. Alpine Elementary benefits greatly from their continued weekly support sending healthy, kid-friendly, nonperishable food home every Friday during the school year.  Each bag of food consists of breakfast, lunch, and dinner for Saturday and Sunday.

Donations have been slow and the IncrEdibles program needs a boost from the community, in order to maintain the number of food bags needed for our St. Vrain students!

They are working in tandem with Sam’s Club, offering official donation days, where you can “shop and drop” your donations on the spot at our local Longmont Sam’s Club location. More details are included on the flier.

If you’re not a Sam’s Club shopper, no problem! You can bring any of the listed donation items directly into the Alpine main office, just let us know it’s for IncrEdibles.

If you are interested and able to give back, the list of needed donations items is below.

Thank you for your help keeping our St. Vrain students and families fed and supported!
