Dear Alpine Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you well and filled with excitement for the year ahead. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who joined us at our Meet-Your-Teacher night. It was a joy to see familiar faces and welcome new ones to our Alpine family. Your presence signifies the strong partnership we share in ensuring your child’s educational journey is a fulfilling and enriching one.
We’re thrilled to report that the first two days of school have been a resounding success. The halls of Alpine Elementary are alive with the energy of eager learners, each embarking on a new adventure in education. As we embark on this journey together, we’d like to take a moment to highlight the many facets that make Alpine Elementary stand out as a beacon of excellence for your child’s education.
1. IB World School Integrating STEM Practices
At Alpine Elementary, we are proud to be an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, where a holistic approach to education fosters inquisitive minds and compassionate hearts. Our commitment to integrating STEM practices into our curriculum nurtures critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential for success in the 21st century.
2. Focus on Research-Based Literacy Instruction
Literacy forms the cornerstone of a child’s educational journey. Our dedicated educators employ research-based literacy instruction methods to empower your child with strong reading, writing, and communication skills.
3. Adoption of New ReadyGen Reading Curriculum
We’re excited to announce the adoption of the new ReadyGen Reading Curriculum. This research-based program will open doors to a world of captivating stories, sparking a lifelong love for reading and learning in your child.
4. Strong Social-Emotional Learning
A child’s emotional well-being is paramount to their academic success. Our emphasis on social-emotional learning equips students with the tools to navigate challenges, build resilience, and develop meaningful relationships.
As we dive into this new school year, we eagerly anticipate the growth, learning, and joy that each day will bring. Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of nurturing your child’s potential. Together, we will make this a year to remember.

Code of Conduct
Dear Alpine students and families,
Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.
To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here. Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 720-652-8140

Transportation
Our Transportation Department is preparing for the upcoming school year. If you are interested in having your child ride the bus for the 2023-2024 school year, please apply for transportation services as soon as possible. The Transportation Department makes every effort to accommodate as many eligible riders as possible.
Nutrition Services
Nutrition Services is excited to share that all students will receive one free breakfast and lunch each school day through Colorado Department of Education’s Healthy School Meals for All program starting this school year.
Given this change, it is still important for St. Vrain Valley Schools to gather household income information to support after school activities and nutritional programs. All families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced-price meals are encouraged to fill out an application. Applications are continuously accepted and processed throughout the school year and families are invited to apply or reapply at any time. Families who qualify for free or reduced-price meals receive benefits including fee waivers for school and preschool programming, and discounts on SAT and ACT exams and college applications, utilities and internet service, and participation in community organizations like sports and YMCA programs.
St. Vrain schools also benefit when families submit their free or reduced-price meal applications. Schools receive an increase in federal dollars for student and classroom support, school programs during and after-school, preschool programs, technology, and additional snacks and meals at no cost to all families outside of normal school hours.
The application is completely confidential and not shared with any other agency or organization. Fill out an online application today.
