Bio

  Hi, my name is Kate Bustillos and I am thrilled to be a second grade teacher here at Alpine Elementary. I have been in education for twelve years. Eleven of those years have been spent in second grade and one year in fifth grade. Before coming to the St. Vrain Valley School District in 2022, I taught in Greeley/Evans School District 6.  I am a product of St Vrain and attended Indian Peaks, Sunset, and Niwot. I am so happy to be back in Longmont where I grew up. I got my bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado. I got my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Trauma and Resilience from Concordia University. I have a passion for education and am a lifelong learner. My favorite thing about teaching is being able to foster a love of learning and tapping into students' potential through their interests.  Outside of the classroom I love spending time with family. My husband Eric, two daughters Adelina (6) and Lucy (3), and I live in the Longmont area. We love the outdoors, traveling, and adventure. I also love sports and am a fan of all the Colorado teams.
