Alpine Inquirer – 04/05/24

Principal’s Notes

Dear Alpine Families,

As part of our commitment to academic excellence, I’m excited to share details about the upcoming CMAS testing with you. I wanted to outline the purpose of these assessments, share important information about the schedule, and offer tips for preparing your child to do their best.

Purpose of Colorado CMAS Testing:

The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessments are an essential part of our efforts to evaluate student progress and ensure that our educational programs are meeting the needs of all students. These assessments are designed to measure students’ proficiency in various subjects, including English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science. By participating in CMAS testing, we gain valuable insights into students’ academic strengths and areas where additional support may be needed. Additionally, CMAS results help us identify trends and make informed decisions to improve teaching and learning in our school.

Testing Schedule:

Tuesday 4/9/24, 9:15- 10:40 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Math

Wednesday 4/10/24, 9:15- 10:40 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Math

Thursday 4/11/24, 9:15- 10:40 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Math

Friday 4/12/24, 9:15- 11:05 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade ELA

Monday 4/15/24, 9:15- 11:05 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade ELA

Tuesday 4/16/24, 9:15- 11:05 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade ELA

Wednesday 4/17/24, 9:15- 10:55 5th Grade Science

Thursday 4/18/24, 9:15- 10:55 5th Grade Science

Friday 4/19/24, 9:15- 10:55 5th Grade Science

Tips for Preparation:

To help your child perform their best during CMAS testing, here are a few tips:

  • Ensure your child gets plenty of rest the night before each testing session.
  • Provide a nutritious breakfast on testing days to fuel their minds and bodies.
  • Encourage your child to do their best and approach each question with confidence.
  • Get your child to school on time every day of the testing window.

Opt-Out Procedures:

We understand that some families may have concerns about their child participating in CMAS testing. If you wish to opt your child out of the assessment, please email your request to [email protected] no later than Thursday, April 4. We respect each family’s decision regarding participation in state assessments and will ensure that alternative arrangements are made for students who opt out.

Importance of Attendance:

It is essential for all students to attend school regularly and on time, especially during the CMAS testing window. Our assessments will begin promptly at 9:15 in the morning. Consistent attendance ensures that students have the opportunity to complete all required assessments without needing to make them up during instructional time later in the day or week.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education. If you have any questions or concerns about CMAS testing or any other aspect of your child’s academic journey, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Amber Marsolek, EdD – Principal

Jennifer Dalby – Dean of Students
