Gifted and Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic and/or talent areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.

The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Back-to-School Dress Code Reminder
We’re excited to kick off a great school year! To help everyone stay comfy, safe, and ready to learn, here are a few quick dress code tips:

  • Hats off indoors (unless you have special permission).
  • Dress for the weather so you can enjoy recess and outdoor activities.
  • Clothing should cover traditionally private parts of the body including but not limited to the stomach, buttocks, back & breasts.
  • Keep clothing school-friendly (no offensive words or images).
  • Wear shoes that are safe for running, playing, and learning.

Thanks for helping make our school a fun, welcoming place for everyone! Check out the link below for the district guidelines

Newsletter titled "Lion's Den" highlights fall activities, new friends, classroom updates, and a jump rope champion.
Our first late start was a huge success and we are ready for some cooler weather. To welcome the new season, we took advantage of out extra time by making fall windsocks with colorful fake leaves and streamers. I hope you find a great spot to hang yours and let it catch a nice autumn breeze.
Our Classroom got a serious upgrade with some fun new additions. The kids have been loving the new magnetic cubes, dolls, and bead bracelets.
We also welcomed a few new friends to pur group and its been so heartwarming to watch everyone learn new phrases in Spanish to help them feel included. The kids eagerness to connect and communicate with one another has been truly special. And get this we have a new jump rope champion in the class. One of our incredible second graders set a new record with 59 jumps in a row. It was amazing to see. We cant wait to see what next week brings.
