Alpine Promenade

A group of children in costumes: a mummy, witch, pirate, and ladybug, standing together in a colorful setting.

Promenade Details: The promenade will take place outside, circling the school building, and will begin at 2:50 PM, following classroom parties. Families are warmly invited to join in on the fun! We’re looking forward to a fantastic celebration and can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes.

Classroom Parties: Classroom teachers will reach out to you regarding details about classroom parties. We encourage the focus to be on fun activities rather than treats, but there may be a few small treats.

Costume Guidelines: To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, please keep the following in mind:

  • Change at School: Kinder through first grade students should bring their costumes to school and change just before the party and promenade.
  • No Weapons, Masks, or Fake Blood: For safety reasons, costumes should avoid any weapons, masks, or fake blood.
  • Minimal Face Paint/Makeup: While fun face paint or makeup is welcome, please keep it minimal to ensure visibility and comfort.

Library Oasis: We understand that not all students celebrate Halloween, and we want every child to have a fun and inclusive experience. For those who prefer not to participate in the festivities, the library will offer an alternative activity. It will be a peaceful space for creative exploration, featuring engaging books, puzzles, and STEM activities. This will provide a comfortable and enriching option for students who want to enjoy the afternoon in their own way.

Thanksgiving Lunch

We are thrilled to host Thanksgiving lunch again this year. We will be catering it through Perkins. Please return this form and payment by Friday, 11/7.

Lost & Found

Two clothing racks filled with various colorful jackets and sweaters hang in a well-lit indoor space.

If your child has anything missing please ask them take a look at lost and found. Parents are also welcome to come and look, please check in at the office first.

VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION

Alpine will be having a Veteran’s Day Celebration on Tuesday, November 11th.

There will be more details to come about time and the schedule of events, but in the meantime, we need your help!

The school will be creating our “Wall of Honor” for Veterans again throughout the next following weeks. Students or families can fill out a brick and return to the office or to Mrs. Bonner by November 7th. Please feel free to fill out more than one. Click here for a copy. If you filled one out in the past years, we still have it and will reuse it.

If you would like to include a family member or loved one on our “Wall of Honor” you can also digitally send the following information and a picture to:

Message from our Counselor

Hello Alpine Families!

I’m Becky Ramsay and I’m so excited to be your child’s school counselor. This is my fifth year at Alpine Elementary and it is my job to make sure every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn — not just in their academics, but in their hearts and minds, too.

You’ll find me visiting classrooms, helping students solve friendship problems, celebrating their successes, checking-in on attendance and offering support when big feelings show up. I also work closely with teachers and families, because when we all work together, kids grow stronger.

Growing Up Is Messy (and Wonderful!)
As your child moves through elementary school, you may notice new behaviors — some delightful, some… a little puzzling. Many of these ups and downs are a normal part of growing up, and they often reflect the developmental stage your child is in.

It’s also important to know: every child grows in their own unique way. Not all students will fit neatly into the “typical” behaviors for their grade — and that’s okay. Kids have different strengths, needs, and timelines. Our job as adults is to meet them where they are.

  • Kindergarten – 1st Grade:
  • Big feelings and learning how to manage frustration
  • Practicing how to make and keep friends (sometimes with lots of trial and error)
  • Needing help with sharing, turn-taking, and problem solving
  • Getting tired after long days at school
  • 2nd – 3rd Grade:
  • More awareness of friendships — which can bring joy and drama
  • Testing limits and needing clear expectations
  • Building independence but still craving reassurance
  • Starting to compare themselves to peers
  • 4th – 5th Grade:
  • Stronger emotions and bigger social dynamics (friend groups, feeling left out)
  • More complex problem solving — but still learning how to navigate it all
  • Dips in motivation as school gets tougher (totally normal!)
  • A growing desire for independence while still needing adult support and connection

How I Support Students & Families

Classroom Lessons: Teaching skills like problem solving, friendship, kindness, and
emotional regulation.
Small Groups: Helping students practice new skills in a supportive space.
Individual Check-Ins: Short-term, solution-focused support when a student needs an extra hand.
Family Collaboration: Partnering with you so your child gets consistent support at
school and home.

Coming Up This Year
Character education lessons on kindness, perseverance, and respect
Growth mindset activities
Friendship and conflict-resolution lessons

PTO News

Three children in Halloween costumes: a pumpkin girl, a skeleton boy, and a witch with a wand, all smiling and playful.

Hello Alpine Families:

Put on your best costume and come join us for a spooky-good time at Alpine’s Monster Mash!

  • Friday, October 24
  • 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
  • $5 admission/family (at the door)
  • Alpine Elementary Gym, enter through the school’s front doors

All proceeds from this fun-filled night will go to support HOPE for Longmont, supporting homeless outreach services. In lieu of the $5 entry fee, families can donate socks, gloves or other winter essentials and we will donate those to HOPE as they prepare for the upcoming winter.

Expect music, dancing, costumes, and plenty of treats (no tricks!). Patil Orthodontics will serve everyone a hot dog and light concessions are available for purchase in the cafeteria. Please be aware this is not a drop off event, so plan on attending with your student. Bring the whole family, show off your Halloween spirit, and make a difference while you dance the night away.

As this is an all-ages event please do not wear scary costumes, bring any weapons or wear masks. Light face makeup/paint is allowed but no blood or gore.

See you on the 24th!
