How fortunate were we to have Rosemary Wells, of Max and Ruby fame, join our preschool last week to mesmerize our preschoolers with her storytelling!
Alpine clubs are up and running! We are so glad to offer multiple diverse opportunities for our students.
Principal Notes
Hello Alpine Families,
At Alpine Elementary, we are proud to be an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) school, where students from Kindergarten through 5th grade engage in a globally-minded, inquiry-based education. The PYP framework nurtures students’ natural curiosity, encouraging them to ask questions, explore big ideas, and think critically. By focusing on real-world themes—like Sharing the Planet and How the World Works—our students learn through hands-on experiences that connect academic concepts to their lives and the world around them. This approach not only enhances their understanding of core subjects but also helps them become compassionate, thoughtful individuals with a deep sense of responsibility.
The benefits of being a PYP school go beyond academics. IB programs place a strong emphasis on developing “Learner Profile” attributes such as being open-minded, reflective, and caring, which are essential skills for lifelong success. By integrating these values into every aspect of learning, we are helping our students grow as communicators, inquirers, and thinkers. Our goal is to inspire them to become active, engaged citizens who are prepared to take on the challenges of an interconnected world. Thank you for partnering with us in this exciting journey—together, we are building a brighter future for all our students!
Gratefully,
Amber Marsolek EdD – Principal
Jennifer Dalby EdD – Dean of Students

Monster Mash
The Alpine PTO wants to invite everyone to our 2nd Annual Monster Mash dance on Friday, October 25. Dancing starts at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m. Students and families are welcome to dress up in costume, and come dance and connect with each other. Patil Orthodontics, a FUNDRun sponsor, will be donating hot dogs for all attendees. Drinks, chips and candy will be available for purchase. The entry fee per family is only $5 or a donation of a new or gently used small kitchen item (potholders, kitchen towels, serving spoons etc). All funds raised and items donated will be given to HomeAhead, which is a local organization helping people transitioning out of homelessness furnish apartments, turning empty spaces into homes.
Alpine Promenade
Promenade Details: The promenade will take place outside, circling the school building, and will begin at 2:50 PM, following classroom parties. Families are warmly invited to join in on the fun! We’re looking forward to a fantastic celebration and can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes.
Classroom Parties: Classroom teachers will reach out to you regarding details about classroom parties. We encourage the focus to be on fun activities rather than treats, but there may be a few small treats.
Costume Guidelines: To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, please keep the following in mind:
Change at School: Kinder through first grade students should bring their costumes to school and change just before the party and promenade.
No Weapons, Masks, or Fake Blood: For safety reasons, costumes should avoid any weapons, masks, or fake blood.
Minimal Face Paint/Makeup: While fun face paint or makeup is welcome, please keep it minimal to ensure visibility and comfort.
Library Oasis: We understand that not all students celebrate Halloween, and we want every child to have a fun and inclusive experience. For those who prefer not to participate in the festivities, the library will offer an alternative activity. It will be a peaceful space for creative exploration, featuring engaging books, puzzles, and STEM activities. This will provide a comfortable and enriching option for students who want to enjoy the afternoon in their own way.
Let’s make this Halloween at Alpine a day to remember!
What is the IB Primary Years Program (PYP)?
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is an International Baccalaureate (IB) framework for children aged 3-12 that emphasizes nurturing a child’s curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. The PYP creates a challenging, inquiry-based learning environment where students explore big ideas across subjects, fostering lifelong learning. Guided by six Transdisciplinary Themes, the curriculum integrates all subjects, encouraging connections between classroom learning and the world. With a focus on meeting local educational standards, the PYP emphasizes global perspectives and collaborative teaching, and parents are essential to the PYP learning community. Learn more at ibo.org or contact Bob “Señor” Roy, IB Coordinator at Alpine Elementary ([email protected]).
