Staffing Changes

Hello Alpine Community,

We are looking forward to an amazing 2018-2019 school year. We are happy to announce the addition of a few new teachers and staff to Alpine Elementary who have been hired during the summer. As with any school, staffing changes can sometimes occur over the summer, and we wanted to keep you informed. Because of these staffing changes, in a few cases, students will have a different teacher than they were assigned at the end of last school year. If your child will have a different teacher, you will receive a notification after office staff return to work August 1.

Ms. Jessica Waggoner will join Ms. Lind and Mr. Radtke on our fourth grade team. Ms. Waggoner graduated from CU Boulder and student taught at STEM Launch K-8 in Adams 12. She received prestigious awards for her work at CU Boulder including the Outstanding Elementary Graduate and Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher Education Graduate awards. Jessica most recently finished teaching English to elementary students in Thailand. She is a wonderful new addition to Alpine. We will miss Mr. Neiswander and wish him the best as he transfers to Central Elementary.

Ms. Nicole Cutler will join Mrs. Drangeid and and Mrs. Anderson to round out our third grade team. Ms. Cutler graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in Education and John’s Hopkins University with a masters degree in education with a reading specialist emphasis. She has taught for six years in Maryland and is looking forward to moving to Colorado. We are so lucky to have her join our team.

We recently hired two highly-qualified paraprofessionals to join our staff;  Lexi Alvarez will join our special education team. Lexi comes to us from Mapleton Public Schools where she was also a SPED paraprofessional. Peggy Samide will join Ms. Kathy’s class as an additional PK para. Peggy is an experienced teacher who wants to get back into the classroom with children.

We are happy to congratulate Mrs. Lesha Baker on a SVVSD promotion. She was recently hired as a certified teacher librarian at Coal Ridge Middle School. We will thoroughly miss her after her 13 years at Alpine. See below for a message from Mrs. Baker. We have recently hired Danica Farley to serve in the library. She has been a special education paraprofessional within the district and has worked in libraries.

As always, we will keep you informed of staffing changes. Office staff will return August 1.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Amber Marsolek

Principal

Thank you, Alpine families, for making my 13 years in the school library great! I have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with and getting to know your students. I have also appreciated your support of the library, book fairs, and reading. In late July, I accepted the position of Coal Ridge Middle School Librarian. Please let your children know that I will miss them very much and wish them all the best as they continue to grow as readers and students. I hope to see you around Longmont!

Thank you,

Lesha Baker
